Looking back, I don’t think I could be in any other career than online marketing. I started using social networks in 2005 to start developing my network – though back then I didn’t realize I was starting to develop my outreach practices. (Click here for more of that story)
Since then, I graduated from Texas State University with a B.A. in Mass Communications – Advertising and started interning. My first stop was being an in house marketing project manager at Pursuant. After about nine months there, my manager came up to me and said “There is something called SEO and we need to be doing it.” So I bought a couple of books on SEO and PR in the modern age. Shortly thereafter, my contract with them ended and was cut loose. This is for the best since I wouldn’t have picked up online marketing tactics as quickly if I had stayed.
Within a month after that I started at WrightIMC where I have been since August 2010. I have got to do a little bit of everything there: SEO, PR, PPC and SMM. What I personally love doing is content strategy and outreach for promoting content. But I would say that I am also a pretty good SEO.
